I am an anthropologist and historian specialized in the study of food and wine. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, I lived, studied, traveled and worked in Europe and the United States for most of my adult life. In 2006, I completed my doctorate in Anthropology at the Università delgi Studi di Torino. From 2007-2008 I was a post-doctoral fellow at the Università di Scienze Gastronomiche in Italy. In 2009, I came home to Canada and was a lecturer in Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. I have also taught an on-line “Food and Culture” course in the Food Systems graduate program at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain. From 2010-2014, I ran the Gastronomy Program at Boston University.

In 2014-2015, I will be a fellow at the Collegium de Lyon, where I will be doing research on the cuisine des mères lyonnaises and women who cook professionally in France.
