I am an anthropologist and historian specialized in the study of food and wine. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, I lived, traveled and worked in Europe for 9 years and now I call the United States home. In 2006, I completed my doctorate in Anthropology at the Università delgi Studi di Torino. From 2007-2008 I was a post-doctoral fellow at the Università di Scienze Gastronomiche in Italy. In 2009, I came home to Canada and was a lecturer in Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. I have also taught an on-line “Food and Culture” course in the Food Systems graduate program at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain

In 2010, I began my current job as assistant professor and academic coordinator of the Gastronomy Program at Boston University.

In my spare time, I import extra virgin olive oil from Umbria, Italy to Canada. I have a passion for cooking, eating, wine, traveling and learning.
